Chargers Win in Miami Comes with a Price

Chargers win in Miami comes with a price.

The Los Angeles Chargers have been busy on this first day of October. Sunday they brought home their first win in Miami since January 2, 1982,  the AFC Divisional Playoffs, the Epic in Miami, but as feared with more injuries, today was a busy day of roster moves.

Normally Tuesday are “mellow days” in the NFL, players are out giving back on their day off, today was not so mellow.  Chargers announced many moves they have placed Sean Culken on IR, signed Stephen Anderson to the active roster and several practice squad moves. Waived Adarius Pickett (S), Chris Brown (G) and signed Jeff Holland (DE), Quenton Meeks (DB), Matt Sokol to the practice squad.

Early this evening it was reported from NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero that The Chargers signed kicker Chase McLaughlin, a rookie UFA from Illinois.  Collegiately McLaughlin was a perfect 79/79 on extra points and 4/6 on FGs over 50 earning  Big Ten Kicker of the Year.  He has had short stints with the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings this season.

Ty Long’s injury from Sunday may be worse than anticipated or the fear of an injury with the current lack of depth without Michael Badgley, a bit of panic or searching in Miami seeing him limp after a kick off early in the game.  However he did continue to play without an inclination that anything was wrong and was perfect 3/3 on FGs with a total of 12 points.  But the question arose for me as I watched, searching the roster for whom, if he was hurt, would take over on all kicking duties, punt and place kicking until Michael Badgley is back on the field.  Perhaps a precautionary move regardless it is being reported he will resume punting duties.

An interesting thought was brought up by Tom Krasovic, Union Tribune reporter or questions regarding rookie QB Easton Stick and keeping him on the active roster with so many injuries with every  spot vital.  Potentially fearful to risk waivers to him on the practice squad where he can be picked up as pass rusher Chris Peace whom was impressive in Training Camp was claimed by the Giants.

In addition, this evening 9:48 PM PST Gilbert Manzano, beat reporter for the OC Register, reported via a tweet, that the Chargers are considering placing Dontrelle Inman on IR as well.

Tomorrow  afternoon the Chargers will release the first injury report for week 5, Broncos week.

Jerimiah Spicer; Persistence & Drive

Truly a treat to have Jerimiah Spicer in studio at the Dash Radio HQ’s on April 30th.

jerimiah0038

Incredible to share this inspiring young man’s story filled with sheer inspiration and hope, one whom against all odds, continues to push through whatever life throws at him.

From homeless on skid row as a child to numerous foster and  group homes, eight high schools despite it all he managed to get to college and play football.  Throughout the foster and group homes he struggled with many trying scenarios such as, no food after practice as the kitchen was closed. With continued drive and a never giving up mentality in 2018 he earned a spot with the Cape Fear Heroes of the American Arena League.

JerimiahMiracle46

With more persistence he received invitations to a few NFL Pro Days, but one really resonated for him, specifically with Chargers Head Coach Anthony Lynn and after pursuing him on LinkedIn , Lynn replied.  His support and word have meant the world to Jerimiah.

I met Jerimiah at the Chargers Local Pro Day at the Hoag Performance Center, but realized after we started speaking that he had been following me on Instagram and we had exchanged DMs.  Also, Denzel Perryman shared much support on the same day, pictured above.

He possesses a tenacity and persistence with a never give up, his story will continue. No surprise Jerimiah in Hebrew means May God Uplift.

Enjoy the inspiration that this amazing human brings.

Jermiah’s sister Miracle also came in studio and shares some of her own incredible miraculous story as well as their separation and reuniting.

Also on the episode a quick hits and a recap of LA Chargers Draft 2019 as he came in studio a few days after.

Damion Square, Donnie Jones and Justin Jackson Inside the Locker Room with Desiree

This week was big, an AFC West showdown on prime time in Kansas City for Thursday Night Football vs. The Chiefs.  On the ITL 12-11-18, Inside the Locker Room at the Chargers HQ’s, a special on The Desiree Show. I spoke with Damion Square, Donnie Jones and Justin Jackson.

There is truly something special I have seen in this locker room this season and on the field, this team has a phenomenal unity. It’s tight, there is mutual respect, a fight together and a special something one can’t quite put a figure on, the ingredients of a championship team.

Donnie Jones, Damion Square and Justin Jackson.

I asked Donnie Jones about the specialness of this team, the Super Bowl and BCS Champ told me ” Probably the best locker room I’ve been apart of”

On the similarities of championship teams he has been apart of  three time  BCS Champion, Damion Square simply stated,
“Respect! We respect each other”

Also, some cool background on Justin Jackson’s current and past jerseys.

The ITL is a regular special on the show.

It’s here, Super Bowl LII Kicking Off

It’s here, Super Bowl LII kicking off in 3 hours!

The Underdog vs. The Dynasty?!

Patriots headed to their 10th Super Bowl, the Eagles to their 3rd and still searching for their 1st ring, the underdogs vs. the seasoned veterans.

#FlyEaglesFly or #OneMore!

Many many story lines coming in the last two weeks, over last few weeks I brought a little variety to The Desiree Show.

Former Patriot AFC champ Marrio Grier and Jim Steeg the man singly responsible for bringing the Super Bowl to the biggest one day sporting event along with Philly raised Bones team manager Vern Laird and what it’s like to be an Eagles fan.

A former NFL RB for the Patriots, 1996 AFC champion drafted in the 1996 draft 6th round 195th pick by New England.  Marrio Grier whom played under HC Parcells, Belichick as DC, Charlie Weiss as WR coach & Romeo Cremel as DL coach along a full cast of players & following with Pete Carrol at the helm. This was the 2nd time Marrio was on my show, broadcasting on last Wednesday.  The coaching history amplified with the 30 for 30 ‘The Two Bills’ premier airing Thursday evening, definitely want to catch it!  Marrio shares what it means to be a Patriot. and yes, not all NFL Organizations are the same bleed or breed dynasties, but that’s not the only reason.  He also shared what it was like receiving  the call from Bill Parcells and his first meeting of Mr. Kraft.

Jim Steeg coming in with 35 years in the NFL with a variety of roles, 26 in charge of Special Events for the NFL, former Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the San Diego Chargers, Controller of the Dolphins, CSAG member and the list of continues.  Currently primarily with the collegiate world.  Twenty-six of those years Jim was in charge of the Super bowl and Pro Bowl. this alone is unfathomable and what he was able to do truly awing. Focusing on making everyone comfortable from players’  families, child care to the entire teams,  to accommodations to taking care of the media on a level today which has dropped along with the fan experience.  Throw in the gnarliest A-List of entertainment, on the stage and singing the national anthem, but don’t forget the following week of that wasn’t enough as well.  (Yes, the Pro Bowl used to follow the Super Bowl remember).

U2, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Phil Collins, Mary J Bilge, Smokey Robinson, Chubby Checkers, Tony Bennett, George Burns, Mickey Rooney, ZZ Top, the Blues Brothers, James Brown, the rockets the USC marching back had to throw in) and that only a smidgeon of all that you brought from 1979 to 2004.

Jim shares some of his ah ha moments during his tenor, and darn the NFL would be lucky to have him back! I am happy that a friend I hold in the highest regard will be singing the national anthem today, Alecia Moore AKA Pink and knock everyone’s socks off!  Who didn’t realize what the stage was or that he would have fans from countries he hadn’t ever played for be able to see him perform.  And of course DIANA Ross, listen to hear how that happened and how that shifted it all, no it wasn’t upside down, but in some ways it did go upside down as this was the shift that opened endless super bowl half time shows & national Anthems.  But the one he wanted for years and years never came to fruit only after he left, did Bruce Springsteen play.

To bring an Eagles perspective, Vern Laird in studio January 23rd on what it means to be an Eagles fan, growing up in Philly, and why the under dog is so suited for this city! Come on it’s an easy Rocky? Hello! Vince Papale, but its more than that.

Game stats and more:

To the game more stats, yes! But these are easy; the number one seeds face off in Minneapolis. More about the host city with an awesome man whom always is giving back to the community and youth and what The Twin Cities are about, yes we all know its cold, really cold, especially now but, Mark Rodriquez owner of 3rd Lair amplifies the love for his community an illustration on what the people are like and also the ties to the SB and skateboarding. Did you know that they were granted one of the 52 grants for a new skatepark, yeah the SB community and that X-Games nothing?

Patriots head to their 3rd Super Bowl in 4 seasons

(Their 10th SUPER BOWL appearance)

8TH since 2001 their first Championship.

1985- Lost 46-10 to Bears

1998- Lost 35-21 to Packers

2001- Won 20-17 over Rams

2003- Won 32-29 over Panthers

2004- Won 24-21 over Eagles

2007- Lost 17-14 to Giants

2011- Lost 21-17 to Patriots

2014- Won 28-24 over Seahawks

2016- Won 34-28 over Falcons

Experience; Patriots with 33 players having been to a Super Bowl where as Eagles with 6. RPO yep, you’ve been hearing it and yes Eagles are strong in this play. Can Doug Pederson, Jim Schwartz and Frank Reich be able to plan to beat the dynasty, they sure have that go for it mentality.  This go for it mentality/ game plan of the Eagles, they need not seize that and play 60 minutes, disable diversion and adjust if needed, but don’t retreat and they can win.  And yes, the same as what I stated regarding New England hosting Jacksonville for AFC Championship game but I’ll add one more adjustment give yourself a chance, Bill will have 2-3 full plans to shift if needed the game plan at any given moment.

Eagles to win

eaglesdogmasks-35147958931338be.jpg

60 min full play, not a second less.  Get pressure on Brady!! Rattle him contain the run, on the offense don’t abounding the run you can’t at that’s not because Carson Wentz isn’t there that’s simple football 101, on the same vein do your job.  Creative ways to get you receivers.  Quick out routes, not always sexy but effective as Pats CBs play inside, using sidelines and no defensive communication breakdowns, they need to have faster communications which is challenging vs. Tom Brady with his dink and dunking. Pressure pressure pressure on Tom, and don’t let up, don’t over pursue. Use the Patriots motto of do your job!

Patriots to win

843894666.0

Experience by far is on their side; familiarity, which is paramount with a football plus this, is Tom’s 8th SB appearance. Eagles  need no def breakdowns, faster communication but Eagles play CB’s way off, however only given up 17 in post but, Brady’s quick release could expose this and potentially be disastrous.

Passion both teams have it!

The underdog Rocky climate of Philadelphia the entire demeanor of the city plus anger at the loss the last time they had a SB appearance in Jacksonville vs. New England

Pats have too, could it be end of an era? Will that also be used with Belichick coaching tree grows as Matt Patricia to Detroit HC and josh McDaniel’s to Indy. Last time took a few years to get back to the Super bowl after they lost their cords but not long. Does this even matter? More importantly the discipline that this team plays with and the do your job there are no hero’s only a team. Btw did you Notice no crazy TD celebration dances?

I’m seriously on the fence, hard hard hard to pick against the Belichick always is, I think that if Eagles can keep pressure and play as they have utilize their running game, contain/ pressure Tom and the run of the Pats, an entire game and make necessary adjustments they can, just as I believed that Jaguars could, but we saw what happened. I’m going to say that it’s going to be close, (I thought that NFC Championship game would be too, however, lol)

One last random tidbit Eagles earn best celebration dance while can you remember any Patriot dance all season?

If and only if Philly can do what I outlined, they can win, it will be close, 21-20 or 24-21.

Now you see I haven’t given an affirmative vote on either, exited to watch this one, enjoy Super Bowl Sunday!
